The Family

Definitely Besson again, though less comedic than expected and much more violent, especially towards the end. Some nice flourishes but overall not my kind of movie.

Silver Linings Playbook

Until Lawrence shows up, this could easily have fallen into a dreary drama, but she sparkles on screen, most of the time. The dynamic between her and Cooper is generally humorous, and Tucker and de Niro are characteristically themselves (ie of similar type to other comedies they are in). However, it never really strays out of “safe” territory despite the darker themes it contains and sometimes feels a bit lost.
