The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2

Better than Part 1, though both need to be seen to get the context. It felt a little like a return to the second movie by incorporating “the games” in the city, though didn’t really explain why the entire city was boobytrapped with game devices (multitudes of traps). Overall a respectable finish to the series, even if it felt like Act III was dragged out over 2 movies.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2

Overview

With the nation of Panem in a full scale war, Katniss confronts President Snow in the final showdown. Teamed with a group of her closest friends – including Gale, Finnick, and Peeta – Katniss goes off on a mission with the unit from District 13 as they risk their lives to stage an assassination attempt on President Snow who has become increasingly obsessed with destroying her. The mortal traps, enemies, and moral choices that await Katniss will challenge her more than any arena she faced in The Hunger Games.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1

The previous instalment raised the bar on the games, but this aftermath and development of the rebellion – though relevant to the story – falls short of its target since Hollywood likes to split the last part of a trilogy into two, stretch them out a bit, and cash in. There were some topical themes here – media, propaganda, fear, war, etc – portrayed well. Should probably see both parts 1 and 2 together.
