Meditation Made Easy

In this video, Mingyur Rinpoche explains the essence of meditation and describes some common misunderstandings about practising meditation. He also shares some tips for bringing meditation into our day-to-day lives.

From my own learning about meditation and mindfulness since my initial forays with meditation 30+ years ago, these are 2 key essences of meditation:

  • We are not our thoughts. We are the observer of our thoughts.
  • Meditation is not about achieving the absence of thought, but remaining aware and centred while the thoughts ebb and flow around us.

Over time, the thoughts will learn they don’t have your undivided attention and will recede. We will feel greater serenity and greater control of ourselves and our lives. Challenges will become easier to face. Other key benefits of meditation include:

  • Reduce Stress
  • Overcome Anxiety
  • Better Emotional Health
  • Better Self-Awareness
  • Better Attention
  • Improves Sleep
  • Helps Manage Pain

In the following video Russell Brand will help you to learn a very simple meditation technique. This is a meditation that is suitable for beginners or anyone looking to start meditating … or at least try it out. This is great if you’re looking implement some self-care into your daily life.
