    The 10 Human Drives

I have read a number of Brendon Burchard’s books (Motivation Manifesto, High Performance Habits and Life’s Golden Ticket), have taken his Transformation Week and am studying his Productivity Masterclass also. As many of you will know from the contents of this site, personal improvement is something I take seriously and am always ready to look at new and related materials. So, when an invite came into my inbox to look at unreleased footage of Brendon discussing the 10 Human Drives, I accepted. The course is delivered via growth.com using the Kajabi platform, but you cannot access it unless you’re part of Brendon’s HPX world in some form. You have to…

Self-Help Books – Further Thoughts on the Journey

A short while ago I wrote a post titled Why Self-Help Books Don’t Work. I have been reflecting on this and found an alternative angle to better understand it. The human experience is complex. We each have different life events and each affects us individually. This map of experience is often uncharted and key points along the timeline have a significant impact on us. These can be positive or negative and I discuss the concept of reviewing your life story further in Finding My Authenticity: Breaking My Chains. I have always had an interest in astronomy, even from a young age at school, and went on to work on cosmology…

The Power of the Daily Journal

Do you journal daily? Journalling is all the rage now. There are numerous apps that range from the fluffy to the overly analytical. I have tried four different apps to date – Day One, Stoic (review here), Moodnotes and Jour – and bought three different physical methodologies – High-Performance Planner, Best Self Journal and a Blank Notebook. Some focus on specific aspects of journaling – such as gratitude – while others try to cover the full spectrum. Let’s be clear from the outset that a journal is not a diary, not a summary of what you did and who you did it with (though this can feature), but a much…

    Transformation Week

I took transformation week (by Brendon Burchard) at the start of 2019, shortly after I started my journey to become better in all areas of my life. I hoped it would help me jump-start my progress toward my goals. It didn’t, because only we have the power to decide to choose to do this, but it does provide the framework and tools to help you on your way. Transformation Week (which you can also join for free here) takes you through 7 days of learning based around the 6 habits of high performing people from his book of the same name. You can listen to the book for free on…

High-Performance Habits: How Extraordinary People Become That Way

Excellent work that puts performance into context based on research performed on thousands of high performers over many years. This book distils the key actions you should review and take if you want to be a high(er) achiever. If you have read any of the founders of personal development (like Napoleon Hill, Dale Carnegie, et al) you will recognise some of the same principles, but this updates the ‘founding fathers’ and delves deeper into specific actions you should take and do. A great template which should be studied and applied. I have worked through the book in audio format and it highlighted areas I needed to work on. It added…
